Ashley was born in San Clemente, California on February 10, 1987. As a young girl, she started surfing before making the move to Hawaii. At the age of six, she was able to win an event using an outdated board found in the trash outside her house. In the year 2005, she started surfing. She was the winner of her first competition at the age of six. By the age seven, she was sponsored. Her birthplace was in San Clemente, California. After that, she moved to Hawaii.
